BMW K100 by Wrench Kings

The BMW K100 is currently gaining popularity in the custom world and with the BMW quality as a basis; it is a fun bike to work on!
Roland, the current owner of this BMW K100, is a guy that lives in Utrecht and he already had good connections with a neighboring motor shop (RB Motoren in De Bilt)...

He came to Wrench Kings requesting to build a bike purchased and serviced by RB Motoren; a perfect deal! RB Motoren is a BMW expert and for Wrench Kings this meant that the bike would be in impeccable condition, at least mechanically.
This cooperation between two companies resulted in a stunning bike, built in less than three months, with all minor and major maintenance taken care off!

The challenges on this bike were the lines and the electronics. The K-series is known as the flying brick due to the big-ass engine and the overall looks.  The K100 has a big, flat-mounted, in line, four cylinder injection engine. To give this bike its classic look, the choice was made for a piano black paint job with custom golden striping on the tank and the seat. A serious paint job with a stunning end result! To make the golden striping stand out, the rest of the bike is black as well, with stunning vintage brown leather seat upholstery by Toni’s Custom Works.

And the electronics… BMW and especially the K-series, has nonstandard electronics. The moment you remove the original instrument cluster, you need a relay for the gear indication. The original speed signal is on a 6 Volt basis. The blinkers have their own complicated relay that isn’t one-on-one compatible with modern led lights. In other words, a puzzle. But luckily a puzzle with only a few pieces!
Underneath the seat, a metal support structure is mounted to ensure even the heaviest biker can make a wheelie with this machine. And a wheelie machine it is! Luckily for Roland he’s not the heaviest biker ;)

The following modifications were made on this bike:
The gas tank is from a BMW K100 LT (a cleaner look)
The front fender is from a different K100 (no idea which one, but way better looking than the original!)
Clipon installation
Biltwell grips
Refurbished controls
The subframe is adjusted in such that the polyester seat pan is fully supported by a custom metal frame
Leather seat upholstery by Toni (www.toniworks.nl)
A big 7” Reno style headlight
A subtly built-in tail light
Led indicators at the front and at the back
A new battery
A fully functioning Acewell speedo
Dunlop street smart tires with a cool look and good riding characteristics
Powdercoated frame, powdercoated rims, powdercoated parts, powdercoated everything
A custom license plate bracket
A stainless steel collector with a stainless steel Spark GP muffler

Roland made a good deal with his colleagues; this beautiful bike is parked in his office! And he already has some good moments with his bike. Wherever he stops, people are taking pictures! Welcome in the world of stunning bikes! We wish him many fun miles with his ride!

Pictures are taken by Bas Duijs, a friend of the company and a fantastic photographer! To see more of his work, check his website www.basduijs.com.
